The prevalence of
fungal infections in tropical countries like in Indonesia is quite high, especially skin diseases because of superficial fungal infections. Several factors causes of high prevalence, such as:
- The climate is hot and moist, allowing the proliferation of fungal growth.
- Poor hygiene
- Inadequate socio-economic factor
Clinically, skin diseases due to fungal infection is divided into two major categories, namely:
- Skin diseases due to fungal infection is superficial (superficial mycoses)
- Skin diseases due to fungal infection in the (deep mycoses).
